Snow storm update #1--we're out salting roads...snow angel volunteers wanted
Release Date: February 17, 2018

Just got off the phone with the Deputy Commissioner of Public Works, Rich Fon.  Our highway crews are out in force.  We are currently putting down salt on roads. Our crews started working around 6:30 PM. Roads are slippery. We will be out clearing the snow off of roads until the snow stops and until all roads are in good shape.

Please stay off the roads, if possible. And make sure that your car is not parked on the street.  It makes it very difficult to plow the snow when cars are parked on the street. Also- once the snow storm ends we would appreciate it if you would not throw the snow back on the roads.

SNOW ANGEL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED...

The snow angel coordinators who have been assisting the elderly and disabled with snow removal this past winter are on vacation this weekend.  And other snow angels are also away. If you think you might be able to help an elderly or disabled resident with snow removal tomorrow, please e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com.  I will try my best to match up those who need the service the most with available volunteers.

FINALLY--DURING EVERY SNOW, ICE STORM PEOPLE SLIP, FALL AND ARE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL

Be careful when you go outside. Snow storms result in emergency rooms at hospitals getting busy. Falls-especially head injuries- could be very dangerous--and be life threatening.  Your health and safety is important to all of us.
