Many members of the First Community Church of the Nazarene which is located at 2101 Saw Mill River Road in Greenburgh have relatives in Dominica, a Caribbean island that was destroyed during the recent hurricane. After the hurricane NBC TV mentioned that the island was left in ‘war zone conditions’. Another publications called Dominica a “giant debris field.” “Brutally hit” , “mind boggling damage to Dominica” are some of the headlines from other media outlets. If you would like to help victims of the hurricane who have ties to the Greenburgh community you can drop off items beginning Saturday, September 30th from 11 AM to 5 PM. The church will continue to collect donations daily at the church. Preferred donations: water, sanitizer, canned goods, tarpaulin, toilet paper, feminine products, baby food/formula, baby and adult pampers, sleeping cots/new bedding, toothbrushes and toothpaste. The church is coordinating the effort with the Dominica Consulate General and the Dominica Permanent Mission in New York (counsulateofdominica@gmail.com or 212 599 8478).
