In 1977, Clocktower Players, Inc. was founded to reinvigorate the theater by renovating the hall and by developing programs to promote its traditional use as a center for community discussion and celebration.
In the fall of 1978, the theater reopened its doors, and Clocktower Players launched its Youth Theater program. In 1989, Michael C. Penta, Clocktower Players Founding Artistic Director, instituted our Community Theater program to showcase local talent.
Since 2006, Cagle McDonald has led our staff and volunteer teams as Artistic and Executive Director and has significantly grown all programming. Cagle champions diversity and produces works that highlight the breadth of the human experience—Ragtime, In the Heights, Rent, La Cage Aux Folles, Spring Awakening and Purlie—the first all-black musical to grace the Irvington stage.
Champions of diversity, giving voice to stories as rich and complex as the great tapestry of America itself, Clocktower Players Community Theater Adult Troupe has been honored to receive many accolades including Best of Westchester's Best Local Theater Group, winner of five 2015 OnSTAGE Critic’s Awards, including Outstanding Musical Award, and selected by NY Theater Guide as one of the top five community theater companies in New York State.
In 2017-18, we're thrilled to celebrate our 40th Season with an exciting line-up of community-engaging musicals filled with laughter and fun, sure to captivate and excite the imagination of one and all. We are excited to explore a rich array of Tony Award winning and classic musicals giving a voice to the stories of a community as diverse, rich and complex as the great tapestry of America itself.
