Filmmaker Jason Grant Smith takes us on a journey into the essence of American democracy: the vote.   What begins as an examination of a South Carolina U.S. Senate primary soon becomes an in-depth exploration of American election integrity.   How do we know our votes count?  The answer is both surprising and disturbing.

While democracy does not begin with elections, it can end when we fail to defend them.
