From: Geraldina Shabani [mailto:info@geraldinascouture.com] Sent on behalf of Geraldina Shabani Dear Mr. Feiner, I would like to tell you about my exciting new business, Geraldina's Couture. As a couturier, I design, make and sell highly fashionable clothing. After working for 5 years with Dolce and Gabbana, Dior, Fendi and Peggy Jennings, I have decided to realize my dream to start my own business. I have opened a design studio in Hartsdale, NY in Westchester County where I can welcome customers, custom design their most special occasion outfits, fulfill their needs and make their dreams come true. A customer may come in with a photograph of a gown they like and I can create it for them in their choice of fabric, color and detail. If they are not sure what they want I suggest what would be appropriate for their silhouette, style and the occasion. With approximately 12 measurements, I can transform a few yards of fabric into a magnificent bridal gown or ultimate occasion outfit. Anything is possible at Geraldina's Couture! Before coming to the U.S. in 2010, I had my own tailoring shops in Albania and in Greece. On the second day after arriving in New York, only able to speak 3 words of English, my 13 year old son acted as my interpreter when I answered an ad for a seamstress for a high end designer. After demonstrating my ability for 2 hours, I was hired on the spot. While there is a popular tailor shop across the street from my boutique, he has already sent over customers to me because he doesn't want to do the detailed work of deconstructing a garment and redesigning it. I can do the most complex fashioning in a very short time. I have remade high fashion gowns scaling them down 6 sizes because the customer like the style and couldn't get her size. I redo and refresh vintage items so that a Mother's or Grandmother's dress can be worn today with a perfect fit. My family still owns a clothing manufacturing company, which enabled me to develop my passion for this type of work very early in life. I made my first dress at age 10. At 18, I worked in my uncle's fabric business which educated me in the nuances of every fabric.. I studied all facets of clothing design and execution in school including pattern making by hand using geometric measurements - distinct from computer generated shapes. I have worked in all lines of clothing: men's, children and women and possess the skills of a master seamstress and tailor able to work in the most intricate of fabrics, beading, furs and sewing techniques.
