MOTORCYCLE SAFETY TASK FORCE PLANNING SAFETY EVENT IN LATE APRIL- LOOKING FOR MORE VOLUNTEERS
Release Date: January 18, 2017

Last September, after a Greenburgh resident died in a motorcycle accident across from Greenburgh Town Hall, Police Chief Chris McNerney and I formed a Motorcycle Safety Task force. Every year there are motorcycle fatalities in  Westchester and around the nation. Up to 5,000 people a year die in motorcycle related accidents.  Motorcycle accidents typically occur when motorcyclists are speeding or when there is a head on collision, with motorists who fail to spot the motorcycle.

The Chief and I met with the Task Force last night. We're planning to organize a motorcycle safety event on a weekend  in late April. If you are interested in helping the Task Force promote motorcycle safety and assisting with this safety initiative please e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com.   If this safety initiative saves even one life it's worth the effort.
