Nina Orville is working with SolarizeWestchester.com on an exciting initiative that could save homeowners who have roofs and homes that could benefit from solar up to a few hundred dollars a month. Greenburgh has the opportunity to participate in a great opportunity to offer residents a group buying opportunity in a community and NYS supported program. The solarize program includes significant solar discounts which increase in size as more people sign up…lower monthly utility bills. Pre selected, competitively chosen solar contractors.
There are no out of pocket costs for those who sign up. Other communities in Westchester have participated in this initiative last year –some achieved more than 46% savings on day one with no money down and more than 53% savings on their electric bill over 25 years. Councilman Kevin Morgan, who decided to place solar panels on his home on his own last year has cut his costs by about $250 a month!
The presentation to the Town Board at today’s work session appears on the following link. The Town Board has till the beginning of February to decide whether to sign on to this option which I think is very exciting.
