TOWN USING NON TAX DOLLARS TO BUILD PLAYGROUND AT SCHOOL- SCHOOL LETS TOWN USE BUILDING FOR CAMP
Release Date: June 02, 2015

Cooperation between the Greenburgh School district and the Town of Greenburgh is important.  The town has collected developer escrow funds (non tax dollars when subdivisions are approved). These parkland funds are to be used by the Town for neighborhood parks, playgrounds, or recreational purposes.

The Greenburgh School district had asked the town for help so they could build a playground at the Lee Jackson School, using non taxpayer dollar developer escrow funds.  Last week the Board agreed to allocate up to $75,000 for the development of this playground. A number of years ago, shortly after I won election as Town Supervisor, the town appropriated developer escrow funds for two playgrounds in Edgemont--at the Greenville and Seely Place Schools.

The Greenburgh school  District agrees to fully bear the entire cost of operation, maintenance and supervision of any and all recreationequipment or playground facilities that may be developed

It is understood by the Town and the District that this playground  shall be accessible to all residents of the unincorporated Town. The District shall have the right to limit access during school hours.

In addition, the school district has agreed to allow the town to use the Lee Jackson School as a location for their summer camp operations as long as the playground is standing.

A win win for the town and school district.
