Albany takes action to shift taxes to homeowners
Release Date: June 12, 2003

NY State has decided to take a drastic action step that will shift as much as

21% of the commercial tax base to residential property owners. This action

was taken on Tuesday. My office and other officials from around the county have

been trying unsuccessfully for about 2 months to get a meeting with

Assemblyman Brodsky, State Senator Spano and the entire Westchester delegation to the NY

State legislature. We need their intervention --we need our State

Legislators to help us get this action repealed. Otherwise town, village, school

property taxes will go up significantly. The reduction of the equalization rate by

Albany will be fought aggressively by the Town of Greenburgh.

Town Board approves comprehensive plan--after years of study, review,

hearings...!
