E HARTSDALE NEWS--SUPPORT THE DRYCLEANER WHO IS PICKING UP LAUNDRY... JAZZ CONCERT
Release Date: April 24, 2007

We’re gradually making headway regarding efforts to help flood victims on E Hartsdale Ave. We hope that 170 E Hartsdale Averesidents will be able to move back home later today. Over the weekend the drug store, Mobil opened up. Residents of 180 E Hartsdale Aveare back home! I spoke to Con Ed officials yesterday – Con Ed will not require all the businesses to open up at the same time.

Tomorrow night (Tuesday) there will be a planning meeting at Unistar Credit Union’s new offices on E Hartsdale Ave—located next to the Hartsdale train station. The meeting will take place at 6:15 PM.This summer jazz concert, sponsored by the credit union can help us jump start efforts to revitalize the stores on E Hartsdale Ave. Mark Morganelli of JazzforumArts is organizing the summer outdoor concert series. We’re going to have a giant summer outdoor  party to welcome back all our businesses!

I’m meeting with merchants at 9:30 AMon E Hartsdale Ave(in front of the liquor store) on Wednesday.  Other town officials and representatives of government agencies and small business advocacy groups plan to attend. I also  plan to stop by at the businesses  daily to address their problems. And, to make sure that they don’t experience red tape.

Meanwhile---some merchants are coming up with creative approaches to help them stay in business. I was at Aristocrat DryCleaners today. They asked me to publicize the fact that there business is picking up and dropping off clothes for free –utilizing the facilities of another location for their business. Help them stay in business.

I will be asking the Town Board to waive permit fees for flood victims…to permit sidewalk sales for those who can’t open up their stores for business…a report and recommendations regarding ways to reduce the potential for future flooding on E Hartsdale Avewill be presented to the public shortly.  This problem will receive the highest priority attention.
