Release Date: February 07, 2007

I thought you would be interested in reading the following e mail. The DobbsFerryLutheranChurch, in cooperation with WoodlandsCommunityTemple, will be in Ocean SpringsMississippi–helping  the victims of Katrina.  On Feb 10th they will be sponsoring a local “nail-a-thon” for the victims of this tragedy. You can drop off contributions made out to DobbsFerryLutheranChurchat my office at Town Hall and I’ll hand deliver the checks to Rev Mietlowski on February 10th. Or, you can attend the nail-a-thon.

            PAUL FEINER, GreenburghTownSupervisor

DOBBS FERRY, NY - The members of DobbsFerryLutheranChurchwill host a community-wide "nail-a-thon" at the Embassy Club in Dobbs Ferry on February 10, noonto 4:00 p.m.  For every dollar donated to support the people of Mississippi, a nail will be hammered into one of four very large boards (4'x8').  Each board will have one letter spelling the word "H-O-P-E."  "This idea came from my teenage son Lucas," said Pastor Chris Mietlowski. "After we came back from our trip last year, Lucas wanted us to keep building "hope" for the people we met who lost so much after Hurricane Katrina."

Last February, Dobbs Ferry Lutheran sent 10 people to do relief work for a week.  This year three other faith communities will join them for a total of 53 traveling to the Gulf state to help!  Members of Woodlands Community Temple (White Plains) including Rabbi Billy Dreskin, members of Emanuel Lutheran Church (Pleasantville) including Pastor Paul Egensteiner, members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church (New City) and members of Dobbs Ferry Lutheran Church (Dobbs Ferry) including Pastor Chris Mietlowski will be in Ocean Springs, Mississippi Feb. 17 to 24.

The nail-a-thon is an effort to bring hope in the form of financial support and to remind the people of Mississippithat we have not forgotten them in their struggle.

Anyone can participate in the nail-a-thon by seeking donations from others and coming to the embassy club to join in nailing on February 10 or by sending a donation t DobbsFerryLutheranChurch, 43 Ashford Ave., Dobbs Ferry, NY10522.  (Write in note section: Mississippitrip.)  All donations are tax deductible.

This will be a lot of fun, and it will truly build hope for our friends in the South!
