Greenburgh CERT:

You want to be helpful and be an active member of your community?  Here is your chance! Come join Greenburgh C.E.R.T. – that is Greenburgh Community Emergency Response Team.  Under the supervision of the Greenburgh Police, the Greenburgh CERT is an all-volunteer squad with members from our own community.  Coordinated with other CERT members in the area, we offer essential training as well as organization to the all-volunteer team that serve as backup man power to the First Responders in our community.  After a short course on fundamentals such as basic first aid, triage, fire safety, search and rescue, Greenburgh CERT members meet monthly to be updated and retrained on various skills and topics, often which includes CPR and various emergency preparedness information.  From time to time we are activated (only by the police chief and on purely volunteer basis) to run emergency shelters, warming shelters, and assist with traffic control at local community events as well as to provide other logistical support to local First Responders as needed and qualified for (in a safe manner – safety first for the volunteers).  The training and information you take home can be invaluable to make your home and family that much safer even if you never come to any activation. There will be one less household desperate for assistance at the next emergency!

Next class starts on March 14th in Valhalla.  Please contact the Co-Captains Andrew Sindell atAndrew.Sindell@gmail.com or Lucian Chen at lcchen88@yahoo.com for further information.
