The members of the Greenburgh Town Board agreed to reduce the fund balance. There will be no tax increase in 2006 for residents of unincorporated Greenburgh. Although members of the Board unanimously agreed to the no tax increase budget this past Tuesday - we differ on some aspects of the proposed preliminary budget--which will be posted on the internet this weekend before the December 14th hearing. A vote could take place Wednesday.
Yesterday the Mayors of Elmsford and Tarrytown joined me, civic leaders and representatives of the state discussing plans to push for the 9A bypass. The 9A bypass has been discussed for over 15 years--but nothing has happened. We agreed to urge the state to approve construction of a 9A bypass from 9A and Dana Road south to Route 119 near the Saw Mill River Parkway. The 9A bypass would reduce truck traffic on the road that many people use to get to Sam's Club, the movie theater, etc... It's one of the most heavily congested roads.
The meeting was a big success---an example of state, local, private cooperation. Our next meeting will be held with county officials in January. We will also be working with Ardsley officials to reduce traffic congestion in the village of Ardsley (another proposed 9A bypass is under review for Ardsley). PAUL FEINER
