MY WVOX RADIO PROGRAM TOMORROW FROM 10 TO 11--BRUCE FABRICANT TALKS ABOUT HIS BOOK -WHEN ARDSLEY'S HIGH SCHOOL RULED NEW YORK STATE BASEBALL 1460 AM OR WWW.WVOX.COM

Each spring from 1986 through 1989 baseball fans in the Village of Ardsley were treated to wondrous afternoons watching Coach Neil Fitzpatrick's high school baseball teams achieve success unmatched by any school in the history of the Empire State, four straight state titles.  That was never accomplished before and for nearly 30 years since then.

Bruce Fabricant who lived in Ardsley for 25 years and spent many an afternoon watching those teams play ball  has captured the excitement of that championship era in a new book titled, "Ardsley's Dynasty, 1986-1989, When the Village's High School Ruled New York State Baseball" which is available on Amazon.

"Ardsley's Dynasty" is a detailed year-by-year account of how the titles were won interlaced with personal interviews with Fitzpatrick and his players who reminisce about living in a village where playing baseball was not just a sport by a way of life.   The book highlights the achievements of  Ardsley youngsters like George Phillips, C.J. Russo, Jeff and Tom Caldara, Steve Gyimesi, Mike and Tom Ferraguzzi, Brian Lepore, Billy Bakker, Ray DiMartino, and Bernie McNerney who led Ardsley to those four straight state championships.

Fabricant said that he was inspired to write the book because of his lifelong love of sport and the time he spent many an afternoon watching those Ardsley teams play ball.  Current Ardsley baseball coach Jeff Caldara put Fabricant in touch with players from all four championship teams who told him about their playing experiences.

As a writer Fabricant had the benefit of newspaper archives such as The White Plains Reporter Dispatch and a previously unpublished memoir of Coach Fitzpatrick  that added context to how he achieved his coaching success that earned him a place in the Westchester Sports Hall of Fame.
