Edgemont student wins prestigious DownBeat Student Music Award!...Woodlands Falcons taste off today.

8th ANNUAL GREENBURGH TASTE OFF TODAY AT WOODLANDS HIGH SCHOOL--One of the best and most delicious events of the year is taking place today at Woodlands Middle High School gym at 475 W Hartsdale Ave--the 8th annual Greenburgh Taste Off. From 12 PM to 3 PM, you'll be able to taste some delicious food prepared by local restaurants and caterers.  It's a great opportunity to support the Falcons.

 

EDGEMONT SEVENTH GRADER WINS PRESTIGIOUS DOWNBEAT STUDENT MUSIC AWARD

Lagond Music School announced that one of their students — Dylan Buckser-Schulz who resides in the Edgemont section of Greenburgh — is a winner of the 41st Annual DownBeat Student Music Awards. Buckser-Schulz won for Outstanding Performance, Junior High School Jazz Soloist. His award was featured in Patch.com.

Charlie Lagond, co-founder and musical director of Lagond Music School, said, "We're very proud of his talent and especially his effort. Special thanks to his drum teacher, Jerad Lippi, and the rest of our teachers. Extra special thanks to his parents, Lisa and Chris, for their trust and support."

As part of the DownBeat Student Music Awards competition, students record their music and submit it for judging by professional musicians and educators from across the country, according to a spokesman. Judging criteria are based on musicianship, creativity, improvisation, technique, sound quality and balance, excitement and authority.

A seventh grader at Edgemont Jr./Sr. High School, he and his twin brother, keyboardist and vocalist Tyler Buckser-Schulz, got their start in Lagond's Band Prep Jam for elementary and middle-school students, prior to joining Lagond's SRO band. Dylan Buckser-Schulz who started studying drums at Lagond when he was 6.

The members of the Greenburgh Town Board would like to honor Dylan at an upcoming Town Board meeting.

NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK DAY--DROP OFF PRESCRIPTON DRUGS AT POLICE HEADQUARTERS

The Town of Greenburgh Police Department, in support of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, would like to remind residents and visitors that the department's lobby  on Tarrytown Road offers a drop box container for the safe disposal of prescription drugs.

Many of the young people who misuse prescription opiods have obtained drugs from family members or friends.
