TAXTER RIDGE MANAGEMENT PLAN

On Thursday, November 17, the Town of Greenburgh Department of Parks and Recreation will hold a public meeting for all unincorporated and village residents, to discuss the management plan for Taxter Ridge Park Preserve located in East Irvington, at 7:45 p.m. at the Anthony F. Veteran Park Administration Building.  A requirement of the acquisition of Taxter Ridge Park Preserve, which was purchased jointly with the State of New York and Westchester County is to develop a maintenance and management plan for this property.  Your participation in this process is encouraged.

In March 2004, the Town along with New York State and Westchester County Government each contributed one third of the purchase price to acquire 183 acres of open space, which is to be preserved as parkland and protected from future development. The unique parcel is considered the “Gateway to Westchester” and is the largest undeveloped tract of land in Southern Westchester County.  The property is located along Taxter Road and the New York State Thruway and borders with the Village of Tarrytown.

Taxter Ridge has a stunning topography which features natural rock ledges, woodlands, streams and wetlands. The Town has the full responsibility for the administration management and development of a master plan for this parkland and has retained the service of Hudson & Pacific Designs located in Kingston, New York as consultants for the plan.
