Let’s come together as one community and do something to help those children impacted by hurricane Maria. Many of which are still without power and have little to no food and water. The situation there continuous to get worse and the death counts continues to grow. A couple moms from Edgemont are organizing an amazing family event at Kinetics Sports Club, in Pelham on Oct. 28th from 3-7pm.  This is a great way to support the families impacted by hurricane Maria while having a great time with the family. All proceeds will go to the Save the Children Organization.

UPDATE  HEPATITIS SCARE –IF YOU ATE OR DRANK AT BARTACO IN PORT CHESTER BETWEEN OCTOBER 12 AND 23

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - Bartaco has reopened its doors in Port Chester after being temporarily shut down because of a potential  Hepatitis A exposure that may have exposed customers to the disease. 

The Westchester County Department of Health issued an alert on Wednesday warning that anyone who ate or drank at bartaco between Oct. 12 and Oct. 23 receive preventive treatment against the viral illness after an employee worked while infectious.

Health officials cautioned that treatment against Hepatitis A is only effective within two weeks of exposure, so diners should hurry to see their doctors if they ate at the location.

In an effort to assist residents, the Health Department is offering preventative treatment this week from 4 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on Thursday; noon to 4:45 p.m. on Friday and from 8:30 a.m .to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

“Hepatitis A is generally a mild illness whose symptoms include fatigue, fever, poor appetite, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dark urine, light-colored stool and jaundice, which is the yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes,” Sherlita Amler, Commissioner of Health said. “There are no special medications used to treat a person once symptoms appear, but Hepatitis A transmission to others can be prevented through proper hand washing.”

Bartaco was shut down on Wednesday and re-opened on Thursday afternoon following an inspection. Officials said they have been cooperative and voluntarily vaccinated each of their employees for the illness.
