Edgemont Incorporation Hearing - Affidavits, Exhibits, Maps, Minutes on the town website
Release Date: April 27, 2017

Some residents of Edgemont and the rest of unincorporated Greenburgh are interested in reading the affidavits and testimony of those who objected to the Edgemont petitions at the petition sufficiency hearing (which is required by NYS law)..  There is  also interest in reading the statements made by those who disagreed with the comments made by the objectors.  State law requires the town to  hold a hearing to hear objections. I decided to also allow people who disagreed with the objections to have the opportunity to also comment. Everyone who wanted to comment was provided with the opportunity to comment at the hearing on April 24th or in writing.

In the interest of transparency we have posted all the affidavits, exhibits, maps and minutes on the town website: www.greenburghny.com.   I have also asked that we include links to the three televised Town Board meetings: the April 5th public hearing, the April 24th public hearing and the very brief April 25th public hearing at which time we read the names of those who submitted additional written comments. That will be done shortly. One person filed written comments objecting to the statements of the objectors 10 minutes after we closed the hearing. We accepted his comments but his name was not read at the April 25th meeting because we had not yet received his comments.

A decision on whether the petitions met the standards required by NYS statute must be made by a week from Friday and a written opinion must be filed with the Town Clerk five days later according to New York State law.  If the petitions meet the criteria established by  New York State law a referendum will be held early this summer in Edgemont -whether Edgemont can become a village. According to NYS law only Edgemont residents will be permitted to vote.
