TOWN TO PUSH FOR STATE LEGISLATION TO AUTHORIZE RESIDENTS ONLY PARKING PERMITS
Release Date: October 16, 2016

DO YOU LIVE NEAR A TRAIN STATION?  IS IT DIFFICULT FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS TO PARK YOUR CARS ON YOUR STREET?

TOWN TO PUSH FOR STATE LEGISLATION TO AUTHORIZE RESIDENTS ONLY PARKING PERMITS

WILL HELP  SOME RESIDENTS OF EDGEMONT, HARTSDALE AND NORTH WHITE PLAINS

IF YOU LIVE NEAR A TRAIN STATION-- WOULD RESIDENT ONLY PARKING BE HELPFUL?

Some residents of Edgemont, North White Plains and Hartsdale live near train stations. Over the years I have received parking related compaints-- non residents park on streets.

We plan a major push to encourage NYS to grant Greenburgh what they have granted other communities in the past--the right to prohibit non residents to park on local streets.  This has been done in limited instances:  areas containing  many narrow streets that are not conducive to heavy traffic, especially in the winter months. Other examples: Many of the properties in neighborhoods that  do not contain adequate space for driveways. As a result, the streets within the area generally represent the only space available to residents for parking. Because of the proximity of the area to the train stations, many of the commuters use the streets within this area for daily long-termparking. This severely diminishes the amount of parking spaces available to residents in this area.

In order to help us get the legislation approved by the NYS Legislature and enacted into law - I would welcome your personal experiences. If you live near a train station...please drop me an e mail or letter highlighting the parking problems you have experienced living near a train station.  And, why the legislation we're pushing makes sense for your street. I will forward these comments to our state legislators.  My e mail is pfeiner@greenburghny.com

I think there is a decent chance of persuading the NYS Legislature to approve a residents only parking permit for those who live near train stations and thank you for your help. To the best of my knowledge NYS has not authorized residents only parking for those who live near schools.
