ELMSFORD LITTLE LEAGUE ARE NEW YORK STATE CHAMPIONS...RUNNER UP IN US EASTERN REGIONALS
RECOMMENDING THAT A SIGN BE PLACED AT THE FIELD THEY PLAY AT (RUMBROOK IN ELMSFORD) WITH NAMES OF EACH OF THE CHAMPIONS ON THE SIGN...
 
Jon Last, Elmsford Little League Secretary advised me that New York State Senior League champions Elmsford Little League saw their dream season finally come to a close yesterday, with a heart breaking 1-0 loss in the championship game of the U.S. Eastern Regionals, held just outside of Philadelphia.  Along the way, these 16 and 15 year old Greenburgh boys posted a tournament high 5 wins, and bested the nine other teams in the tournament in total runs scored, team batting average and slugging percentage.  Elmsford eliminated state champions from Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Deleware and Rhode Island before falling to New Jersey in a pitcher's duel...just one opponent away from a berth in the Senior Little League World Series, which will be shown on ESPN next weekend.
 
The Elmsford Seniors' performance this Summer brought a first ever State Title to the league, established over 50 years ago.  The runner-up finish at Eastern Regionals marked the most wins ever recorded by a New York State champion at Eastern Regionals.
 
Despite coming up a run short in the final, we are so proud of these boys for all that they accomplished and for being such great ambassadors for our league, our community and our state.
 
I would like to recommend that we honor the Elmsford Little League champions for their significant accomplishment winning the NYS champions by posting a sign at the Little League field  in Elmsford that they practice at with the names of the team members:  Their accomplishment is very significant.
