Release Date: April 11, 2016

THIS WEDNESDAY-- 7 TO 8 PM AT GREENBURGH TOWN HALL –FIRST HOUR OF TOWN BOARD MEETING
TYLER TECHNOLOGIES,REASSESSMENT MONITOR AND ASSESSOR WILL DISCUSS REASSESSMENT PROCESS
WRITTEN QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED

Melissa Baer, Project Manager and Richard Borst, Senior Research Scientist, with Tyler Technologies (Reassessment Contractor), and Ron Haberman from Haberman and Associates (Reassessment Monitor) along with our Town Assessor, Edye McCarthy, will be at the Town Board meeting on Wednesday April 13th from 7:00pm – 8:00pm to present information regarding the reassessment process and methodology used.  This presentation will include an explanation of the creation of the statistical models used for  the Town’s reassessment project as a whole.   The meeting will be streamed live on the town website: www.greenburghny.com and will also be archived on our website if you want to view the meeting after the fact.

Only written questions will be answered at this forum.  If you have any questions please e mail Edye McCarthy  at emccarthy@greenburghny.com and townboard@greenburghny.com. If you have questions specifically about your property, you should make an appointment with Tyler.  Because the Town Board meeting will take place right after the presentation - no questions from the floor will be accepted. All questions must be in writing.  The public will have a chance to comment on any issue--including reassessment during our public hearing and public comment portion of the meeting.
We cannot go into individual cases in this forum and timeframe. This presentation is about process.

I have also included links to previous power-point presentations and videos to help further understand the process.  We are trying to provide residents with maximum information about reassessment and the process.
VIDEO LINKS WILL ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS RE: REASSESSMENT

Reassessment is very complicated. There was a 3 hour question and answer session in Irvington  about the process with Town Assessor Edye McCarthy, Irvington Mayor Brian Smith, myself. Tarrytown Mayor Drew Fixell also attended that meeting.

The Greenburgh Town Board asked the Assessor, Edye McCarthy to prepare a short video providing answers to questions about the reassessment process. I think you will find the video informative and helpful and give you a better understanding of what you need to do if you want to successfully challenge Tyler's initial valuation.

In February the Town Board met with a representative of NYS and the Assessor to discuss homestead. Find out some of the reasons why we objected to homestead. Only 48 communities in NYS out of 1000 that have been reassessing have implemented homestead.
