3 Greenburgh/Hastings children lost their parents in car accident during holidays--YOU CAN HELP!
Release Date: January 02, 2016

3 Greenburgh children (including a student at Hastings High) lost their parents during the holiday season in Vermont in a fatal car crash. And-- I'm sure that many Greenburgh neighbors would like  to help the family. The following article appeared in lohud.com.  In addition to helping the family financially - if there are any other services you might be able to offer the children please advise. I will forward your contact information to the family or close friends who are helping out. Our community has helped neighbors who have faced tragedies and difficult times in the past. And, I hope the town will show the family that we care about them and want to be helpful.  Our heart breaks for Natalie, Monica and Peter during this difficult time.

FROM LOHUD.COM story

Friends of a Hastings-on-Hudson family involved in a fatal car wreck in Vermont are raising money to help the three injured children who survived the crash.

More than $30,000 was raised in less than a day on a YouCaring site created to benefit the Malarcyzk family.

An SUV driven by Ryszard Malarczyk, 51, collided with a tractor-trailer Tuesday in Killington, Vermont. Ryszard Malarczyk was killed, along with his wife, Anita, 50, and a family friend, Jaroslaw Karczewski, 51, who was visiting from Poland.

The Hastings couple's three children were in the car and injured in the crash that claimed the lives of their parents.

The three children, Monica, Peter, and Natalie, range in age from 16 to 22. Natalie, 16, is a student at Hastings High School. Monica and Peter Malarczyk graduated from Hastings High School in 2011 and 2013.

All three remained at University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington Friday. A spokesman said Monica and Peter were listed in good condition. The hospital would not release information about Natalie because of her age.

But on the fundraising page, organizers wrote that Monica has undergone several surgeries to repair broken bones, while her brother and sister were less severely injured in the crash. The family was on the way back from skiing, according to the page.

Peter and Natalie plan to remain in Burlington until their younger sister is well enough to leave the hospital, the organizer wrote.

The funds will help the surviving family members with transportation and medical costs. More than 300 people had donated by late Friday afternoon. Many wrote expressions of sympathy and support for the three young people who have been left without parents.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
