LET US KNOW WHAT YOU LIKE ABOUT OUR TOWN...WHAT WE COULD DO BETTER

ANY THOUGHTS ON OTHER JOB TRAINING PROGRAMS WE COULD OFFER? WE ALSO STARTED AN ARCHITECTS/ENGINEERS MENTORING PROGRAM IN JANUARY WITH THE GREENBURGH SCHOOL DISTRICT?
OUR XPOSURE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM STARTED A RADIO PROGRAM- 10 YEAR OLD STUDENTS ARE REPORTERS!

SPECIAL EVENT REMINDER:  The Annual New Residents/New Businesses and Volunteers Appreciation Reception, co-sponsored by the Town of Greenburgh and the Greenburgh Nature Center, will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the Multipurpose Center, Anthony Veteran Park from 5:30 to 8:00pm.  All are welcome!  In response to the Greenburgh Nature Center’s request, the following food establishments have responded and will be represented:  Cabin Restaurant, Carmine’s Catering, Eldorado Diner, Pete’s Saloon, and Rini’s Restaurant.  More are expected.  Musical entertainment will be provided by well-known performing artists, as well as town residents, Jonathan Flaks on vocals and piano and Marty Laskin on Saxophone.  Please join us in the fun!

Anthony Barton and his student barbers (who are enrolled in his barber in training program) will give free haircuts. (see article about him in the Wall Street Journal: http://www.wsj.com/articles/urban-gardner-how-a-barber-is-making-life-better-for-others-1430788266).  I'm interested in talking with residents about eventually starting other job training initiatives for our youth: I'd love to eventually see the town & school district have a lawyers in training camp, doctors in training camp. The Greenburgh school district and Theodore Young Community Center are partnering and have started an architects/engineers ACE mentoring program--a program that started in January and is very successful.  Our xposure after school program started a live radio program ---10 year olds are the reporters!  The program started this past spring and is a big success. Any ideas? Let me know. Are you interested in mentoring and helping our youth achieve great successes with their future careers?

What do you like about the town? What can we do better?
Please RSVP to Judith Beville, Town Clerk at townclerk@greenburghny.com or call 989 1504.  We hope to see you Wednesday night.
PAUL FEINER
