3 outstanding women...Interfaith Caring Community Council fundraiser for Midnight Run next week
Release Date: March 14, 2015

A salute to three exceptional women who deserve our thanks for making our community better...

Patricia Richards was honored at her retirement party this on Friday evening. She is retiring as the first women General Foreman of the Greenburgh Department of Public Works. Among her duties: overseeing buildings in our town. When Pat was first appointed as General Foreman -it was difficult. Her hard work, dedication and leadership skills persuaded some of the men who worked for her that she was the right person for the job.  Pat has been employed with the town of Greenburgh for 17 years. In addition to her duties at Public Works, Pat has mentored the youth of our community, specifically within the Theodore Young Community Center. She has also devoted many hours helping the elderly.  A few weeks ago an elderly man with medical issues advised me that he was snowed in. Pat brought him food.  She's been an exceptional town employee who really cares.

The Edgemont Community Council’s Silver Bowl for distinguished community service will be awarded this year to Aubrey Graf Daniels. Aubrey is most deserving of this honor.  She cares about her community! She  is being recognized for her work founding Edgemont Cares. Edgemont Cares helped mobilize members of the community to publicize a missing Edgemont teen who was later found in NYC.  In addition, Edgemont Cares provided assistance to the Brody family after the tragic loss of Ellen earlier this year.  In addition, Edgemont Cares helped local residents impacted by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Aubrey  has also been very involved in the Cotswold Civic Association and in school activities.

Madeline Paneto-Gonzalez, principal of the  Alice E. Grady Elementary School in the Elmsford Union Free School District, was named Administrator of the Year during the fifth annual School Library Conference by The Southern Westchester BOCES School Library System.  She actively supports library programs in schools such as author of the day, read to succeed.

Midnight Run provides support to the homeless and hungry in NYC. Members of the Interfaith Caring Community in Greenburgh  travel to NYC each week  to provide help to those who have had bad luck with their lives. Alan Shapiro and Ardsley High School student Ilana Goldstein are organizing the fundraiser/ concert next week. AHS Jazz Band and the chamber orchestra will perform.  A worthy cause.
