2 stories about teenage runaways...DIAL 2-1-1 IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
Release Date: January 07, 2015

The search for missing teenager  Christine Ji Woo Kang (an 11th grade student at Edgemont High School)  continues. Many residents of Greenburgh have been sharing photos of her on social media pages, putting posters (with her photo) at key locations. The Greenburgh police are aggressively looking  for Christine and giving this our priority attention.  The efforts of the community –helping spread the word about Christine—is greatly appreciated. Hopefully, Christine will be found safe and will be able to be a part of our community again.  Please continue to spread the word to your friends in Westchester, NYC and elsewhere.

Two very interesting articles have been published in the Greenburgh.dailyvoice.com and in lohud.com focusing attention on the issue of runaway teens.  Thought you would find the stories interesting…

A SECRET---DIAL 2-1-1 IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
One of the best-kept secrets in Greenburgh and Westchester is a terrific free service called 2-1-1. Run by United Way of Westchester and Putnam, the 2-1-1 call center and website (http://www.hudson211.org) are staffed by specialists who can answer any question you have about health and human services in our town and region.

For example, 2-1-1 (that’s the phone number) can help you find information and referrals on everything from basic needs like where to find emergency food, clothing and shelter, to disaster assistance, volunteer opportunities, legal services, tax help, drug treatment, employment support, childcare, eldercare and much, much more.

Call specialists are available seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Or use the website 24/7 to find the information you need in more than 200 languages.
Trust me - this is an incredibly helpful service. I refer people to 2-1-1 all the time. As they say, “Burning building? Call 9-1-1. Burning question? Call 2-1-1.”
