GOOD ECONOMIC NEWS- LOCAL BUSINESS EXPANDS...NEW PARK IMPROVEMENTS THAT WON'T COST YOU A PENNY!
Release Date: April 12, 2014

SIGN OF AN IMPROVING ECONOMY--A LOCAL RESTAURANT OPEN SEVEN DAYS A WEEK INSTEAD OF SIX

It's always nice to hear good news about local businesses. Dr. &  Mrs. Bhattacharya and Maria Cocucci, owners of Calcutta Wrap & Roll located at 463 Ashford Ave in Ardsley, report that beginning this Monday they will now be open seven days a week, instead of six days a week from 11 AM to 9 PM.  More choices for residents.

If local restaurants and businesses spread the word that our community is supportive of them, it will make it much easier to attract vibrant new stores to replace vacant storefronts in all our business areas.

PARK IMPROVEMENTS BEING PROPOSED THAT WILL COST TAXPAYERS NOTHING--

USS OF ESCROW FUNDS (FUNDS DEVELOPERS PAY THE TOWN) FOR TENNIS COURTS, MASSARO PARK SPRAY AREA, PAVILLIONS

At the April 2, 2014 Greenburgh Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting, a resolution was passed to recommend that the $738,000.00 in Trust and Agency Parklands Fund PN.039.00 (also referred to as developer’s recreation escrow funds) be used for three projects. There is presently $1,652,296.00 in that account. The three proposed projects are:

1.      Apply a Premier Court System to 3 tennis courts at AFV Park and 1 tennis court at Massaro Park.  This system applies a cushioned surface over existing courts and applies an acrylic resurfacer, acrylic filler and acrylic finish. The cushioned surface minus repainting the surface has a 25 year warranty. The cost of the project is $184,000.00.
2.      Build two pavilions. One pavilion on the west side of the AFV Park Pool Complex with a porous ADA compliant walkway and one pavilion at Secor Woods Park in groove 2.  Each pavilion will have a concrete pad and roof line that covers 30 feet by 60 feet.  At AFV Park where we have cabanas on the far west end of the park would be demolished and replaced with the pavilion. The cost of this project is $254,000.00.  The Commissioner of parks indicated that inside the pavilion at AF Veteran pool we could have i activities (ping pong, shuffleboard, maybe mini golf).
3.       Install a Splash Pad at Massaro Park similar to one at Yosemite Park.  The existing kiddy pool is no longer functional in the park and the new splash pad after demolition of the kiddy pool would be built at the same location.  The adult pool will stay open.  The cost of this project is $300,000.00.

As required by Town Law, when any qualifying project is proposed that will be use Parkland Funds (aka developers recreation escrow funds), that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board review it and then pass their recommendation on to the Planning Board for consideration.  After the Planning Board makes a recommendation, both recommendations would be passed on to the Town Board for a final decision.
