MY SUGGESTION- CALL IN NATIONAL GUARD to help communities like greenburgh
There are still 8700 Greenburgh households without power. That’s almost half the town. And –according to Con Ed many of the 8700 will still be out of power next week. Yesterday there were over 9000 outages - so power has been restored to around 300 customers.
I think that the National Guard should be called in to help local governments like Greenburgh. We need dry ice (CON ED is not giving out dry ice this year). The National Guard could help distribute ice. If Con Ed won’t give out dry ice it would be great if FEMA would reimburse local governments for the dry ice. The National Guard could help oversee a dry ice distribution efforts. We could use extra help checking up on seniors-especially the frail elderly who have no power. There may be trees on cars –the National Guard could help remove trees blocking roads. We have CERT volunteers (volunteers who assist in emergencies) who are also locked in their homes. (I’m getting calls from residents who can’t get out of their home because trees are blocking access to roads. The National Guard could assist in directing traffic –where traffic lights are not working. Etc..
ANOTHER SUGGESTION COUNTY SHOULD EXPAND WESTCHESTER TO NYC BUS SERVICE UNTIL METRO NORTH RESUMES SERVICES
Westchester County resumed the Westchester-NYC bus service. But, it is still on limited schedules. Because people can’t get into work I think the county should expand the service –early morning to late evening – midtown/downtown.

Va. Guard stages 600-plus for storm response
RICHMOND, Va. — About 630 members of the Virginia National Guard are getting ready to respond across the state to help with recovery operations related to Hurricane Sandy.
Officials say the Virginia Army Guard and Virginia Defense Force staged more than 500 people on Saturday in the Eastern Shore, Hampton Roads, as well as central and northern Virginia. Additional personnel began staging on Sunday and Monday in the areas around Woodstock, Winchester and Leesburg. Others have been alerted for possible duty.
Guard personnel also are on duty in Sandston at the Guard’s Joint Operations Center, Fort Pickett and the Virginia Emergency Operations Center.
