ARTS COUNCIL CONTRIBUTES TO NO VACANCIES
Release Date: September 15, 2003

Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner congratulated Sarah Bracey White, chair of the Greenburgh Arts Council for her efforts that resulted in E Hartsdale Ave being fully rented out. Today, the owner of the former IGA supermarket took possession of the last arts in the vacant window storefront. Over the past 3 years 4 large store fronts on E Hartsdale Ave have featured art work by local residents instead of facing soaped up,  vacant store windows. 20 artists contributed to the beautification of the street.
Feiner said that arts have contributed to the economic stability of the neighborhood. They've also made the street more rentable.

Although we hope we won't need the arts on E Hartsdale Ave windows program -- if there ever are future vacancies we will re-start the program. Area artists are anxious to show off their work.

In addition to the arts in the vacant window program, the Town of Greenburgh sponsors a sculpture in the park --near the Hartsdale Train station. That will continue.
