Baseball Blowout For Senior Meals’ at East Rumbrook Field
Release Date: April 09, 2009

Greenburgh Hosting ‘Baseball Blowout For Senior Meals’ at East Rumbrook Field

The Greenburgh Nutrition Program is hosting a ‘Baseball Blowout for Home Delivered Meals’ fundraiser on Sunday April 19, 2009 at the East Rumbrook field in Greenburgh.

The Greenburgh Nutrition Program has been operating since 1975 and has delivered over 2 million meals throughout the Town of Greenburgh, including its 6 villages. Many seniors have benefited from this program enabling them to remain in their own homes as opposed to a nursing facility. The number of seniors in need of a meal continues to rise. Unfortunately, due to difficult economic times, we have been forced to place some seniors on a waiting list. Funding is low and we strongly depend on donations. Food, equipment and labor costs have risen, yet our funding has not kept up with these increases. This is the reason for the fundraising campaign and we need help!

We have arranged this ‘Baseball Blowout for Home Delivered Meals’ to raise the needed money. Teams of all ages will be competing on that day, with donations and contributions going directly to the meal program. Our goal for this fundraiser is to enlist community financial support in a time of need. This essential program requires help, either through sponsorship of a team, a raffle donation or a direct dollar contribution to the Greenburgh Nutrition Program. Contributions will enable the program to continue to feed a group of people, senior citizens, who are too often forgotten, right here in our own backyard. Some prizes include tickets to the Cooperstown Hall of Fame Museum, the Newark Bears, Staten Island Yankees and Brooklyn Cyclones. Raffles are presently being sold, and will be available at the games. Contributions can be made by sending a check made out to the Greenburgh Nutrition Program. The mail address is: Greenburgh Nutrition Program, 11 Olympic Lane, Ardsley, NY 10502, Attention: Director - Lynda Maranino.

Dedicated volunteers are working diligently on this fundraiser for our seniors to ensure that the ‘Nutrition Program’ remains viable. We ask that you please join us in helpingto keep our seniors healthy, happy and HOME!!! Join us and watch some local baseball all day on Sunday April 19, 2009.
